I can still peruse Jalopnik and find it free of any political bent (so far). I can't read Gawker anymore. It's out of control.

yeah, I’m fairly liberal, but even I can’t stomach Gawker too much anymore. Yes, I’m a 46 year old white Catholic guy with two kids and married, but Gawker expects everyone to accept their East Coast interpretation of what ever is the hot topic of the day. Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense, but I’m three sheets to the wind, as it’s Friday, and I’ve been drinking since about eight this evening. Thank God for auto correct.

the cross-posting is annoying too. When I’m reading Deadspin, I don’t need to see a crosspost from Gawker, Gizmodo, etc. If I wanted to read something on those sites, I’d go there. I know they're trying to get clicks but still. I'm glad I discovered Greasemonkey, Stylish, and Adblock plus. I can make Gawker media sites palatable that way.

I’m pretty conservative, and as an LEO i hate the bullshit articles about police matters written by someone who knows nothing and commented on by idiots who know less.
Gawker commentariat bring up the extreme right viewpoints yet don’t realize that they’re the left equivalent - and sound just as stupid.
Also, article cross posting is so. god. damn. annoying.
A huuuuuuge part of me wishes Jalopnik would just break off of Gawker media.

You may not see as much political stuff on Jalopnik itself, but there’s some on their social media pages. I wish there was a way to filter stuff out on social media (better than blocking or hiding each post from people and groups I still wish to follow that is). If I unliked/unfollowed every person or page that put stuff I disagreed with, I’d be left with just a few family members, the Church and related content, and those friends who were active enough on social media to make and account and accept/send friend/follow requests, but never seems to post anything (all of which seems to negate the point of social media). I don’t want to be an ostrich with its head in the sand metaphorically, but I also don’t want to damage relationships or get overly- emotionally affected by others viewpoints or shares, regardless of the topic or how accurate or inaccurate I find their shared info and viewpoint.
